It's been awhile...

So, I’ve had a couple people ask me to update.  I’ve thought about blogging a lot lately and several times have sat down to write, but I just haven’t had anything to say.  I mean, there’s been PLENTY to say, I just haven’t really had the words.  I think I’m a little overwhelmed by all the changes going on and haven’t been terribly expressive.  So, here’s the rundown…

We finally got to California last Sunday, moved my stuff into the apartment Tuesday morning, and Mama and Daddy left on Wednesday.  I’m in my apartment, but not unpacked.  That is seriously stressful!  My roommate, Ashley (not Geyer), left this past Saturday to go to Birmingham and Chattanooga, which means I’ll be here by myself for a couple weeks.  That’s okay though, because it will give me time to get settled and then next week starts welcome week at Fuller, which everyone tells me is really great.

I’m looking for a job and a church… let’s start with job.  I had an interview lined up for the day Mama and Daddy left, but when I got there they told me they had already filled the position.  The lady went ahead and took my information because she thought there was an opening at another location, which is actually closer to my apartment, but I haven’t heard anything back yet.  It’s been less than a week, so I could still hear from them, I guess.  I have two interviews this week, Tuesday and Wednesday, both are part time nannying positions.  The one tomorrow is for a 2 year old girl; the one Wednesday is for 8 year old twins, boy & girl.  I think I’d rather keep the 2 year old, but the other pays a little more.  I also applied for a job with a non-profit educational organization, Star Inc.  They are hiring people to teach hands-on science classes, K-8, before/during/after school.  And they pay $30-$45/teaching hour.  That’s the one I really want.  It definitely pays better, the hours would be more flexible, and I think I would enjoy it more.  I’m praying for the right job to open up, but I sure wish it would open soon!

Church… well, I definitely miss Chicago Tabernacle, but I think I’m finally accepting moving on.  Physically leaving certainly doesn’t always coincide with leaving emotionally and mentally.  Of course the people from CT are still a part of my present, but being an active member of CT is now my past.  I’ve gotta let that go so I can invest myself somewhere else.  I visited a church this week that was okay.  The pastor was hosting a dinner at his house, which I went to and met a couple from Chicago and another couple who are starting at Fuller and the pastor’s wife might be a job lead.  The church had a really strong community feel, which is great.  I can see myself becoming involved with the people, but it didn’t really feel like the right fit, for a variety of reasons.  You can’t really tell from one visit, though, so I’ll definitely go back.  One of the girls from the class I took this summer invited me to her church, so I think I may go there next week.  They met at 4:00, so I can go to the church I went to this week and hers.  I think it might be kind of strange to go to a church that meets in the afternoon instead of morning, but I’m sure I could adjust   There are a couple other places to visit, as well.  Right now I really miss fellowship and community.  I only know a few people here in Pasadena and have had more interaction with boxes than people.  I have always considered myself an introvert, but being here alone, even for only a few days, has really made me see how important fellowship really is.  It’s something I was never really lacking in Chicago and often had more than I wanted

I have pictures from the trip out here, which I need to post… uhh, who am I kidding?  Here’s the link to picasa… Album 1, Album2… It was quite the trip!  5 days total.  It was long, but we had a good time, as you will see from the pictures.  It was amazing to watch the scenery change.  God’s imagination is beyond belief!  There were times when all we could do was stare… at the mountains, at the flatness, at the sunset, at the trees, at the cacti, at the bottles filled with pee littering the side of the road…  I don’t think I caught that on film, and I don’t think we should blame God’s creativity for that one.

Long enough.  I’ll leave you with a few highlights…

One for the night II.

Sometimes I just write random blog posts before I sleep and this is one of those times.

I’ve been listening to a lot of hip-hop and rap recently with Jay-Z getting rediscovered. I forgot how sick the American Gangster album was.  The performance of “Run This Town” on tonight’s new Jay Leno show was also very good. I don’t really give a f*** what Kanye does in his free time – his performance was strong. What can I say? Roc-a-fella has their sh** together.

I’m not going to write too much about work other than the fact that I may have to change jobs soon due to random restructuring up top. People are still hiring and I have some experience so I’ll see where those leads … lead.

Right now, I’m still adjusting to this post-college world – waking up in the eary morn’, meeting deadlines, being serious, haha. Hell, it’s not so bad at all. I’m saving up some money to move out maybe early next year. I really (spelled: hella) want to move back into the City. I’d eat PPQ like.. 6 times a week. Straight. But honestly, to afford 1.8k/month rent, I’m gonna have to split the space with someone. That person knows who they (grammatically incorrect on purpose) are.

Here’s the thing I’ve realized about life after school. It ain’t the end. Life is still dynamic – plans can be made, weekends can be maximized and excitement can still go down. In fact, with steady cashflow, the possibilities are greatly enhanced. I know a lot of you out there are still looking for work in this quasi-depression job market of ours. All I can tell you is, to keep trying. I threw out about 50 resumes for 4 interviews, 1 offer, 1 job. Keep chuggin’ along and something will come your way. I promise.

In the end, you all know me. I’m in a solid relationship and so life is good. Hell, my job security is insanely uncertain, but all is well. Haha, I’m such a sucker. But who the f cares? As long as we’re personally good with it right? If I owe anyone a drink, now is the time to claim, just FYI.

Otherwise, I want to plan a trip down to Monterey Bay one of these coming weekends. Get in touch if you want to go/drive/eat. Let me know.

Ah – gotta work tomorrow, night.

‘Tis all.

Jobby job?

I had a sweet conversation with my older brother. After being trapped in my bedroom trying to make sure Gizmo and MooMoo the chinchillahs didn’t eat up my wires, I proposed a Wendy’s outing – my treat. So, Kuya and I went out to get all American junk on the dollar menu. We sat at our kitchen bar talking about my stay at medical school with my Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, nuggets and my chocolate Frosty, and Kuya’s Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, nuggets and baked potato. Now we’re back to square one; and we’re in both the same situation with our degrees albeit we are a few years apart.

How to find a job in this crazy economy? I am seriously contemplating on my stock market strategy, but even I don’t approve of my trading skills yet. In the meantime, C.A. and I were discussing work options just to get me by. He has a job lined up for a wedding within the next month, and is pondering on whether they’ll let me shoot just for the experience. If I develop my talent, I can make up to a couple thousand dollars per wedding. And apparentl, that’s the latest biz in photography.

fudulia salveaza cv-ul

The Plan

Money

I know I screwed up which is why I considered to ask for help. From my bank. I should mention that this was a hard thing for me to do as I like to get rid of my problems on my own.

I wrote an e-mail. I made an appointment. I had this wonderful conversation with this lovely and friendly lady at my bank (yes – that’s sarcastic). I was treated like a gambler or drug-addict. My current accomodation can’t be increased because she has the feeling we’re (because we’re so close) running in circles.

I hate her. I can understand her. At least I’m trying. But she could have shown more respect that I actually made an appointment by myself and that I’m really wanting to change something. Long story short – the money plan is as following:

  • Don’t spend more than 300 EUR each month for food, gas and luxury
  • Don’t use that credit card any more. Cancel that credit card.
  • Tell that clerk what I really think about her. Show that clerk that I really do want to change within the next 2 months so my accomodation gets increased.
  • Get a new apartment to save money and gas.

Relationship

  • Get my ex back. Forget my ex (He’s an immature jerk and he’s going to get what he deserves and he will realize his mistake – but without me).
  • Find true love (I know. You should never search for the true love but it seems like my true love isn’t able to find me).

Job

  • Find a new job. Get a raise.
  • Don’t get stressed out by everything.

Hobby

  • Start a blog (Wow. Done already)
  • Categorize your interests to see what else you could do.

So this is the launch of my life 2.0. New plans will follow and made plans are realized (hopefully!). And the progress? Ta-Dah. You can find it all here.

To everyone that wants to make money this is the way to do it!

This is the way to make money people I kid you not. Instead of selling products and purchasing ad and marketing time this company pays your for promoting their items. Just read this guys story on how he did it. I am just starting and it works awesome. I have already made a few hundred in just 1 week. The only reason why I am putting this on here is for people to know that they don’t have to work everyday all day, or spend a lot of money to make money. Check it out, what have you got to lose?

Totally anonymous. Totally cool.

Finally, a place to write about the dredges of being a mountain guide.  I know.  My job is one, which I hear daily, that “I would love to have.”  Really?  Have you thought about that?  Because I really can’t stand it sometimes.  Especially when people like you don’t tip me, even though I literally went the extra mile.

Well, I’m now here to tell you all about it, whether you think “the grass is greener on the otherside of the fence” or not.  And I’m excited about it being anonymous because the last time I tried to write a blog, an investor of the place I was blogging about found me.  And then I couldn’t blog anymore.  I’m determined to not let that happen this time.   No, this time I’m in a different place, different time, different space.  Which is why I became a guide in the first place.  So stay tuned because guiding people on the trail has never been what you thought it was before.
